Runway Rubber Removal

Our bespoke machines effectively remove rubber deposits left by landing aircraft, even on grooved Marshall asphalt.

As industry leading road and runway maintenance specialists we have developed our very own machines, specifically designed to removing rubber deposits. MERLIN and OSPREY work at very controlled pressures of up to 3000bar to ensure that even the most challenging rubber deposits are removed effectively and efficiently. Water pressures are achieved by one of the latest generation of URACA pumps, renowned for their reliability.

Each machine features oscillating cleaning heads with multiple nozzles to gently remove rubber deposits from runway touchdown zones. Thorough testing of our machines has proven that they provide more complete and controlled removal of rubber than lower pressured machines. Both MERLIN and OSPREY can carry enough clean water and debris from cleaning to deliver 7 hours of continuous operation. The computerised cleaning heads run parallel to the runway grooves to strip all of the deposited rubber, whilst ensuring no damage at all is caused to the runway surface.

From the driver’s cab the cleaning area can be easily controlled to cover widths from 200mm to 2000mm, whilst the servo driven rotary heads move in a pattern to automatically correspond with the forward speed of the machine. The combination of our skilled operatives and leading technology ensures that clients receive the very best results.

All the jetted water and removed rubber deposits get collected by a pneumatic conveying system and deposited into the onboard debris tank for safe disposal at a licensed landfill site.
